Be Late
September 28, 2007
The festivities commenced last weekend and continue this weekend – and possibly the following weekend, because I am lucky to be blessed with so many good friends.
The birthday was Saturday. Well wishes are still shamelessly being accepted. ahem.
I celebrated with my scrapbook girls on Friday. I spent Saturday with Emma in celebration of our September birthdays. We went to the mall (her choice) and had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Emma bought some garish but girly earrings at Claire’s, and I bought a lip crayon at Origins. Big spenders, we are. We sniffed a lot of stuff at B&B Works and Yankee Candle and checked out the new iPods at the Apple store. Thumbs up for purple (but why only the Shuffle?); thumbs down for mint green. The new blue is okay, too.
Tomorrow is dinner with the amazing Jenny, Ph.D., who has temporarily relocated to the area to be geographically closer to her intended job search zone. Another September birthday celebration, this time with Kelly, has been postponed to sometime next week following her return from Florida. September birthdays in October – why not? Kelly came up with the Cake and Champagne idea that is now our tradition. A poker party with Lauren, Jeannie, and Leah is planned for next week, too.
And then the celebrating will be completed. Man, that’s a lot of cake.
Oh, yeah, and despite the invading gray hairs and getting glasses last year (a weak prescription, which I seldom need to wear) and the pre-diabetes scare (I’m back to normal ranges, by the way), I still don’t think I look my age. And I can still rock a Tool concert. (Why is my Tool trilogy taking longer than a new Harry Potter book?)
Of course, I have aged since this:
Two things Mom loved to dress me in: rickrack trim and big hair bows. Yarn as thick as rope, no less. But I be cute, right?
Timelessly…
=^..^=

Happy happy birthday!!! Sounds like you are having a blast celebrating.
For the record I got glasses when I was 10. I probably should have had them a year or two earlier, but my parents procrastinated. I have VERY thick lenses now, though I mainly wear my contacts now. My husband mocks my thick lenses — he jokes that he can see into next week with my glasses!

Aren’t you cute!
But I had to copy and paste the pic in my photo editor and lighten it so I could see it. I do believe I had those very same rope-like ribbons and I LOVED them!
Happy Belated Birthday!
