Friday Five

1.  Do you ever wonder if the way you see things visually isn’t how other people see them?

Sometimes.  Sandy’s utter inability to think outside the box (so very irksome at times) has made me wonder if some people can “see” outside the box.  I think artists can do that.  Anyway, what one sees is what one’s brain interprets, so I’m sure there must be differences.  I have also wondered how cats see things.  Clearly, I spend too much time watching my cats watch things.

2.  What kind of sounds are the most annoying?

Music that I loathe, which unfortunately seems to be music that most people like.  (Spin on #1:  I think the way I hear music isn’t how other people hear it.)  Like the other day, having to listen to Mary the Pest play TOO LOUDLY back-to-back renditions of “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston made my want to hurt myself, specifically, puncture both my eardrums.  Immature bickering (whether children or adults) that goes on for more than a minute annoys me, too.  Lastly, the sound of people clipping their nails at the office.  Why do so many people do that here?  Who the hell even has nail clippers at work?!

3.  When walking through a store, do you shop with your hands by touching/feeling the texture of things?

You mean, like, Braille shopping?  The only things I feel as part of the decision-making process are clothing and certain produce (lemons and peaches come to mind).  Randomly pawing at anything and everything within reach is for undisciplined children.

4.  If you could only smell three scents for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Lilac, plumeria, and the beach.

5.  What sorts of things do you savor when eating them?

Oh, my. ;-)   Milk chocolate Lindt truffles.

The Book Meme

Stolen from all the cool kids who are doing it.

1.  Grab the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2.  Open it to page 123.
3.  Find the fifth sentence.
4.  Post the next three sentences.
5.  Tag five people.

Okay, then:

When the sound is the same but the spelling is different, take advantage of the spelling to show what the word is.
Do not use the same outline for more than one word or phrase, regardless of how frequent or infrequent a particular word may be.  (Reporters must be prepared to “expect the unexpected.”)

I’m not tagging anyone because I think everyone has already done it.  If not, feel free to swipe.

I failed to mention that I started back at school – again – in October.  I intended to make mention of it in an as yet uncompleted post about last year’s events at the office.  In short, fear of imminent unemployment (downsizing, not incompetence!) has prompted me to make lemonade from lemons.  Go, me.

Based on that textbook entry above, anyone care to take a guess at my latest academic venture?  Anyone?

Tonight, it’s scrapbooking with the girls.  (Maybe I’ll post a photo of a completed page or two.)  My teammates will have to manage without me.  Sunday, Emma and I (and possibly our respective friends, Riley and Jenny) will be tubing, weather permitting and so long as the tubing park is open.  Yea!

Happy Weekend!

I Heart You, Man!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all…

valentine-2007.jpg

I share with you the card I made for Emma.  It doesn’t show in the photograph, but the two smaller pink hearts (not the button topper) are raised.  The card fold is at the left.  (Materials used:  textured cardstock, button, grosgrain ribbon, raised foam adhesive.)

No More Suffering

Rest in peace, Matthew.  Your time here was much too brief, but you touched many.

Photo Meme

Swiped from  bluesleepy (and everyone else).  The rules:  Fill out the survey, then type your answers into Google Images and post a photo for each answer.

1. My first car:  Renault LeCar
Mine was silver with a red interior (ummm, all my cars have been silver).  That black vinyl sunroof peeled all the way open.  Practically a convertible.  Cool, huh?

2. Where I grew up:  Massachusetts.

mememass.jpg

(The blue sign reads, “Massachusetts Welcomes You”; I didn’t grow up on a highway.)

3. Where I live now:  Rhode Island, the Ocean State.

4. My first name:  If you know it, you know it.

5. My grandma’s first name:  The one I was closer to, Grace.
She died three years ago next week.  She was 97.

6. My favorite food:  Coffee ice cream

7. My favorite drink:  Frozen margarita, with salt, please.

8. My favorite song:  Pushit
Honestly, I don’t have one favorite song, but for the past few months I have been extra digging Tool’s “Pushit.”  When I get around to finishing my Tool trilogy (target date:  late spring 2008), you’ll understand why.  Hee.

Whaddaya know?  It’s the boys from Tool, doing their thing.  Groovy.  Heavy.

9. My favorite smell:  Lilac

10. My favorite pair of shoes:  Black mules
(I’m really more of a boots or sandals person.  Shoes are what I have to wear in between boot and sandal seasons.)  My black leather mules (like clogs, but sleeker and more stylish), which I’ve had for a number of years, have held up remarkably well.  Whatever I paid for them was well worth it.  Since Day 1, they have been ultra comfortable, as if they were made for me.  Like buttah.

11. My first pet:  Cory
A tiger cat.

12. My favorite color:  Sunset pink.
Any shade of pink in the sky will do.

13. My least favorite smell:  Microwaved fake eggs.
Sandy and Jana have this for an at-work breakfast on a regular basis.  I can smell the foul (no pun intended) stench when I step off the elevator.  Tina and I would love to see this banned.

14. My biggest fear:  Fire

15. My favorite hobby:  Scrapbooking
(Even though I’ve been doing more beading and making jewelry of late.)

Someday, I’ll post photos of my own work.

Happy Super Bowl Weekend!  Go Patriots!
